sunny weather

We're taking advantage of this little patch of warm weather to spend as much time outside as we can. Mari's friend Gabby came over yesterday, and this was one of their cooperative moments. They share a rather passionate love/hate friendship. We're waiting to see whether love wins the day... I've been having visions of them in 12 or so years; "She stole my boyfriend. He's MINE!" I'm sure it's just an age/stage issue.

Despite being sick as, well, dogs, we've all been busy in our own little ways. I've been crafting away, and here's the proof.
The pics above show my very first *completed* (and that's the important bit) knitting project. Nothing glamorous, but versatile and fits two head. Not at the same time, obviously. Looking at those pics, really, are they sisters, or are they sisters?! My second ever *completed* (have I mentioned that?) hat, was a sojourn into the world of dropped stitches. Intentionally. It's shaped, but is obviously destined for another, younger head. It will soon be whizzing down the highway to wee Violet, who has spent only weeks in this world so far, and hopefully keeping her mother busy enough so that she won't read this blog for a few days! I'm just hoping she has littler noggin than our dear boofy Rosa. And I say that in the most loving way.

You've seen the first of the little stuffed family here. Although minus the coffee stain. The other two I knocked up today (I say that oh so breezily). The bunny on the right is destined for the aforementioned Violet's bigger brother Morgan. The middle Russian style doll, also from Wee Wonderfuls I think is one for Rosa.

And yes, I have been working on some "real art" but that's for another day and another blog post.

Bunny

It must be the cold weather.
I've been bitten by the craft bug, big time. The latest is made from the wee bunny pattern at Wee Wonderfuls. I've been exploring the craft blog community, mostly inspired by Loobylu. Lately, with the coming of winter, I get the urge to wrap myself up in cotton wool, then knit something out if it! Have I mellowed? I must have. Anyway, it's a bit rough, but Mari loves him. And he is pretty cute. Next project is something made out of my own pattern. Any stuffed animal requests? I'm on a roll!

What the postie delivered

Today we received a delightful package in the mail from Aunty Pam. A wonderful surprise for the girls. Mari was thrilled, but also wonderfully patient while we waited for Rosa woke up from a rare morning nap. We opened the package to find a beautiful Peter Rabbit block set. This went down very well with Mari. She's a big fan of Jemima Duck. And Rosa thought the little block was the perfect size for morning tea. :-)

We shout with a resounding "Thank-you Aunty Pam!"

A bit of history

What an eventful Easter it's been. Today we took a step back in time at sunny Sovereign Hill, 19th Century Gold Town for the masses. Actually quite good fun once we got into the spirit of it. Despite being a bit young to understand the historical side of things, Mari had a great time panning for gold, going on a horse and buggy ride, and doing all those things that hopefully start to imprint themselves on the young mind. I've been wondering lately what her first memory will be. It must be happening somewhere around now. I'm just hoping it won't be of her mum (i.e. me) swearing as she drops something on her foot. Again. Maybe this trip will be one of those future 'I remember when...'s.

Oddly, our souvenir haul consisted totally of musical instruments. The (rather fine, I must say) harmonica was, as you can see, the favourite. Mari provided musical accompaniment, and dancing, to the many prospective prospectors. Ha. Gold hunting kiddies. And continued for a good half hour as we wandered the dusty streets. At least we could never have lost her. All in all, a delightfully tiring day.

We had a lovely Easter, despite poor Mari having a horrible nasty cough. Here she displaying her loot from a mile-a-minute Sunday morning Easter Egg hunt. After weeks of anticipation she was after those eggs like a bloodhound with the chocolate scent. It was a morning (rather 5 minutes) of one triumph after another. Each find was momentous occasion, and the innocent expression on her face shows nothing of her determination and will power. And boy it was fun!




Apologies, the positioning of images leaves a lot to be desired, but it's late (again) and I suddenly don't have the mental capacity to fill in the gaps with flowing prose. It's automated, therefore unflexible. Give me the spare hour or two, and I'll get a good blog happening on our website.




We had a wonderful time catching up with family and friends all weekend. Sunday arvo was spent relaxing at the Botanical gardens enjoying some local wine and food. Or in my case, the Lovely Local Lattes. Cheers, and Happy Easter!

.... Ohhh, I was going to add photos but I can't find the ones I want after copying everything onto various cds and hard drives. We've had a big day's gardening and we're going to bed! I'll add pics and actually let all of you know about this new little fad of mine another time.
